Pub Crawls
One of the many activities my husband - partner enjoys in the Celtic countries - Ireland, Scotland and Wales - is pub crawls, dropping into the odd pub to get the “flavor” of the local area.
Local pubs are where friends and all members of a family get together, especially on a Sunday afternoon, for a warm, hearty meal and good times. Quite a few years ago we were thinking of moving to one of the Celtic countries and spent a few weeks in a small rental car driving through the region, along the winding country roads with stops at many of the village pubs. I learned they are a great way to get a real feeling for the people and information about the local happenings, plus the inherent benefits of good food and beverages.

We never did relocate “across the Pond,” and instead found our sense of place in New Hampshire where we founded Great Escape Travel Services. Our office is in Alton Bay, across from the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. I am the company’s president and the author of this blog. My career in travel began in the Caribbean in 1991 after a formal education to earn MBA and MFA degrees and business experience in the corporate world.
I’ve followed my passion for exploring new experiences and cultures by traveling with my husband-co founder-partner, John (who is an executive interim manager and guides the company in marketing and strategic partnerships) and having fun developing our company.
