Get together as a family on an Ireland bike tour

A great way for families to visit Ireland and share experiences is on an Ireland bike tour. These tours are designed with easy daily cycling (between 18 - 25 miles each day) and two full days for rest and sightseeing.
Departing from Westport on August 15, you can join an escorted group family bicycle tour of Connemara - an easy ride for everyone as the roads go around the hills not over them! On this Ireland bike tour, you’ll see dramatic changes in the landscape from mountain ranges and fjords to open bog land and a rocky coastline.
The trip begins on Saturday evening with an introduction by the tour guide and dinner where you’ll meet other families on the tour. Start out the next morning for a leisurely ride along the coast via Croagh Patrick (take a break to hike up to the summit for great views!) to the first night’s stop in Louisburgh.
The next day, cycle through the Delphi Valley on your way to Killary Harbour for a two night stay. While in Killary, you’ll be able to enjoy some of the area’s activities including kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and even bungy jumping.
Continue cycling on via Kylemore Abbey to the coast, passing sandy beaches on the way to Clifden, where you’ll spend two nights. While there, you can visit Inishbofin Island, to see the Heritage Museum, relax on a secluded beach or take a walking tour for views of the mainland and chance meetings with exotic birds.
Your tour ends with a coach transfer back to Westport on August 22. This escorted family Ireland bike tour includes 7 nights accommodation with breakfast each morning, bicycle and equipment rental, and a tour guide who follows the group with a van (carrying the luggage and available for a ride if you feel like taking a break from cycling). What an excellent way to spend a family vacation!
