Cabra Castle Hotel
Cabra Castle Hotel, located about 1 1/2 hours drive northwest of Dublin, in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, combines historic elegance with modern conveniences to provide each guest with a taste of castle life in a refreshing and relaxing experience.
The castle and its surrounding properties have a unique history that dates back to the early 1700s. The original “Cabra Castle” is now in ruins not far from Cromwell’s Bridge, one of the interesting sites in the area. The present hotel property was constructed in the early 1800s and known as Cormy Castle. It was renamed Cabra Castle in approximately 1820.
The castle was converted into a 22 room hotel in 1964; through several ownership changes, the castle expanded to 80 rooms by converting the Courtyard area to guest accommodations. Most guests find the modern and spacious Courtyard guest rooms preferable to the smaller accommodations in the historic main building (note: the Courtyard rooms are to the rear left of the main castle building, as seen in the aerial photograph by Lou Metzger, below).

Cabra Castle Hotel combines a rich history with modern courtyard accommodations.
Cabra Castle Hotel offers a variety of activities, including its own 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, horse back riding, fishing in nearby lakes and, of course, its own Derby Bar. A little over a mile from the castle, Dun A Ri National Forest Park features walking paths and several sites of historic interest.
Popular as a venue for weddings, Cabra Castle Hotel offers a 4-star Ireland luxury castle experience at an affordable price.
